news-imgIt has “checks and balances” that give businesspeople confidence that their contributions are being spent wisely, says Pavese law Firm Partner Mary Snell, who got involved 20-plus years ago by serving on the allocations committee.  Although everyone is trimming budgets, it’s important to continue giving at whatever level possible, she adds.  “As a citizen of the community, you have an obligation to give back.”

The organization has increased efficiencies by working with partners to reduce redundancies and establishing such services as the 211 hotline to get clients what they need more effectively, says Snell.  “You get more bang for your buck.”

Pavese gives a corporate gift and, like O’Donnell Landscapes has an employee campaign through which employees can contribute through payroll deductions.  It also gives to the Salvation Army and other United Way partners, but the United Way receives the bulk of its corporate support.
