EPA on Agricultural Respiratory Protection Shortages during COVID-19 Public Health Emergency

It is imperative that agricultural pesticide applicators wear respiratory protection when required by pesticide product labeling. The COVID-19 public health emergency has created a significant increase in demand for respirators to protect healthcare workers which has, in turn, limited availability of respiratory protection options for the agricultural sector. In response, the EPA has issued a temporary policy for agricultural handler employers and pesticide handlers experiencing a shortage of available respiratory protection and reduced availability of respirator fit testing. Our agricultural law attorneys are available to answer questions about the measures outlined in the EPA’s temporary policy.  For the EPA Guidance document click here.
